Bluewater Kitchen has a dedicated Pastry Chef who can do everything from a fine plated dessert to specialty cakes to mini-dessert displays.
In an effort to “find herself” during a corporate sabbatical in 2008, Megan McGlynn landed herself a baking position at Teacake Bakeshop in the San Francisco Bay Area. While at the time she only knew how to make a cake out of a box, the owner of the bakery took Megan under her wing and taught Megan the fundamentals of baking. She discovered her affinity for creating beautiful pastries and loved seeing the look on customers’ faces as they took their first bite of heaven she made. From there, Megan mastered her craft through cookbooks, online media and trial by error.
Megan has the soul of an artist and appreciates the unique juxtaposition of food and art. Not only does her work look beautiful, but it’s equally delectable. All of her pastries are made from scratch, with local products whenever possible, and she offers gluten free and vegan options as well. Megan strives to make each cake design and dessert bar menu unique and reflective of her clients’ vision for their events.
In 2014, Megan opened Scout’s Bakeshop in San Jose, California. Upon returning to her hometown of Ashburn in Loudoun County in 2016 to raise her family, she was excited to continue her craft in the town that helped shape her. She is a graduate of Broad Run High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Rhetorical Theory from Elon University.
She has created seasonal desserts and delicious cake flavors for you to choose from for your event. Tastings can be arranged in conjunction with or after the full catering tasting.
